Protocol A are Scholarships for all Registered Psychiatric Nurses in Manitoba:

John Kellie Scholarship pays tribute to the man who helped develop the first Standards of Psychiatric Nursing Practice in Canada and Standards for Approval of Psychiatric Nursing Education programs in Manitoba. –  $500 awarded  to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse or graduate psychiatric nurse who is eligible for registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba and accepted into a post diploma baccalaureate program.


The John Kellie and Kay Armstrong Scholarships require documentation of acceptance into the educational program.


Kay Armstrong Scholarship celebrates one of the leaders who advocated for university based education for psychiatric nurses. –  $500 awarded to a psychiatric nursing student working towards a baccalaureate program  in Manitoba.


Marlene Fitzsimmons Scholarship honours a long time supporter and visionary leader of the profession who is also the founding President of the RPNF.- A scholarship of $500 awarded to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse enrolled in a related certificate program or presenting at a relevant conference.    


The Marlene Fitzsimmons Scholarship requires documentation of your acceptance as a presenter at a conference.















Alf Barnett Scholarship honours the first President of what is now the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba. - $500 awarded  to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Manitoba who is pursuing graduate studies at Masters or Doctoral level.  

The Alf Barnett Scholarship requires evidence of acceptance into graduate studies, as well as the name of your graduate studies Supervisor.
Protocol B is a Scholarship for all Registered Psychiatric Nurses in Manitoba
pursuing graduate studies at Masters or Doctoral level:

John Alex Crawford Scholarship - A National Scholarship honouring John’s professional dedication to standards development for psychiatric nursing. - This scholarship of $500 is for any Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Canada who wishes to pursue Master’s or Doctoral studies that are directly related to any of the four domains of psychiatric nursing practice.  


The John Alex Crawford Scholarship requires evidence of acceptance into graduate studies, as well as the name of your graduate studies Supervisor.

Brandon University Bursary:

In addition the RPNF sponsors the following bursary at Brandon University. The Registered Psychiatric Nurses Foundation Inc. Bursary – to be granted on the basis of financial need, to a full-time undergraduate student who has completed their third year and will be entering their fourth year of the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN) program at Brandon University. The Bursary’s value is based on income allocation. The approximate value of the Bursary is $450.00 which is subject to change based on market values and the Foundation’s distribution rate in any given fiscal year.
